Hello! My question is that can you please tell me the name of the gymnasiet schools in Stockholm which teach in English language. I am a Swedish Citizen but I have been studying and living in Pakistan from the last 16 years. I have done my O'levels in Sciences but I am more interested in Social Sciences and Law. Can you please tell me the procedure and requirements of applying in an English medium gymnasiet. Thank you.

Hello!

The majority of the schools in Sweden that offers all education in English are international schools, or have certain programs with international orientations. There are several schools that offer all, or some, of the education in English. There are programs with almost complete focus on Social Science, which is also called Social Science program in English. In Swedish, it is "Samhällsvetenskapsprogrammet".

Here, i have done a search on the word "English": https://www.gymnasium.se/sok/utbildningar?q=english  the resultats shows several schools that offer different kinds of programs in English. Some of the schools are English in their nature, others only offer a certain program that is taught in English. For example, there is International Baccalaureate, also called IB, that is structured differently than the average program and focuses on an international education that prepare the students for studies abroad after graduation. Here is another search for "international": https://www.gymnasium.se/sok/utbildningar?q=international. Most of the results are for IB but further down the page you can se other programs in English. This can be a good start in your search for a school, for example, if you notice that many programs are being offered by the same school you can look into that and even use the contact information on our page to speak to them directly and ask them your questions. Here is a combined search for "international english": https://www.gymnasium.se/sok/utbildningar?q=international%20english

Applying for these schools are usually the same as any other school. First you need a password from the admissions office, or registry, in your town or community. If you live in Stockholm, this will be your admissions office: https://www.gyantagningen.se. You can contact them and ask how you should proceed with your application. If you want to apply for an IB program, it includes admission tests, for example to test your English. When speaking to the admissions office you can also ask them about the competences needed to continue to a gymnasium in Sweden and if you have everything need from your elementary school education.

Good luck! /Aranja, SYV
